Manuscript Summary: | Manuscript Summary The main content of this codex is a copy of sermons on the Gospel of John by the church father Augustine, produced sometime after 800. In the front is a Latin version with neumes of the now lost Old High German "Galluslied" (the translation into Latin was done by the monk Ekkehart IV in the first half of the 11th century), originally composed by the monk Ratpert before the year 900. In the back are verses by Ekkehart IV about the paintings in the Romanesque cloister walk at St. Gall. Includes textual glosses by Ekkehart IV. |
